“Ecstasy / Agony” is a compilation of mostly previously released music — a regal selection of Andres Lõo’s finest ambient and crooner tracks from the last two decades.
Some of the material dates back to as far as the year 2000, when Lõo was still active in the duo Luarvik Luarvik with Mihkel Kleis aka Ratkiller.

To be found on the compilation are collaborations with Ervin Trofimov (Opium Flirt), who leant his trademark guitar sound to ‘Seto Dub’ and his MPC skills to ‘A Little Blue’. Originally composed for the feature film ‘Taarka’ (2008), ’Seto Dub’ and ‘Pärast vihma sajab päikest’ were released as a 7’’ by Sex Tags Amfibia in 2017. ‘I am New York’ is known as the seminal Faun Racket track — Lõo’s collabroation with Talis Paide — but just like previously unreleased tracks, ’Space is Nice’ and ‘Oblivious’, ‘Fuma vera’ and ‘Sume’, the track is entirely of Lõo’s fruition. ‘Morning Dew’ is a haptic amalgamation of Lauri Raus’ (Holy Motors) guitars and Lõo’s ambient synths.

The whole of this collection of tracks — essentially Andres Lõo’s “best of” of sorts — are stemmed from Lõo’s solo albums and EPs “Skeletons on Rock” (2009, Laton), “Love Bomb Letter” (2011, Vitamiin Loft), “Good Company” (2011, Vitamiin Loft), “Hour of the Wolverine” (2019, Phantom Platform) and from Lõo’s scores for two motion pictures from 2008 and 2012, directed by Ain Mäeots. The cover version of Sven Grünberg’s ‘Tulen kord jälle’ – ’Ma tean’ – is a homage to the great modern Estonian composer.
